Casting Call: Christopher Meloni Flies to 'Man of Steel,' Ray Liotta Plays a Bad Cop, More

Christopher Meloni, who just left his long-time gig as Detective Elliot Stabler on 'Law & Order: SVU,' has already thrown his name into the big screen hat -- he's in negotiations to take what's being described as a major role in 'Man of Steel,' Zack Snyder's reboot of the Superman franchise. Already on hand for the December 2012 release are Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe and Julia Ormond (as Superman's Krypton parents), Kevin Costner and Diane Lane (as ma and pa Kent) and Michael Shannon as bad-boy Zod. Ray Liotta -- no stranger to crime yarns -- has joined the cast of 'A Place Beyond the Pines,' the Derek Cianfrance ('Blue Valentine') directed actioner about a motorcycle stunt rider (Ryan Gosling) who starts robbing banks to support his family and runs head on into a determined rookie cop (Bradley Cooper). Liotta will play a corrupt police officer. [Variety]
