Now that the 2011 Sundance Film Festival has officially come to an end (keep an eye out for a few more pieces from us, though), we can start anticipating the theatrical releases of all those films people have been buzzing about these past 10 days. One of those is 'Like Crazy,' which won the Grand Jury Prize (U.S. competition) at this year's festival after quickly becoming one of the most talked-about films of the fest once Paramount acquired it in an all-night bidding war immediately following its premiere.
Directed by Drake Doremus and starring Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones, 'Like Crazy' tells the story of two kids navigating the rocky waters of a long-distance relationship. From our review:
"'Like Crazy' is a film about the little moments. The ones we remember when we're saying goodbye, or missing an embrace, or losing something we thought (and maybe wished) we had. It's a film of collected moments; of love, happiness, heartbreak, success and failure. It's a film about how it feels to be in love; how beautiful, intense, addictive and debilitating love can be, but how necessary it is for us to experience as we get older and start sorting out our lives."
Considering the last two U.S. Grand Jury Prize winners have gone on to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar ('Precious,' 'Winter's Bone'), this is one film a lot of people will be interested in seeing when it hits theaters at some point in the second half of the year.
