Mark Romanek Won't Be Directing 'The Wolverine'

After the crushing news that Darren Aronofsky dropped out of the director's chair, it now looks like our ideal replacement, Mark Romanek, has followed suit and won't be helming 'The Wolverine.' For those unfamiliar, Romanek is the director of 'One Hour Photo,' 'Never Let Me Go' and some of the best music videos of all-time, from Nine Inch Nails' 'Closer' to Johnny Cash's 'Hurt.'

Maybe we shouldn't have gotten our hopes up in the first place, but we think Romanek would have been a perfect choice to help people forget about 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' and give everyone's favorite mutant the hardcore treatment he deserves. But alas ...
